Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of intellectual instruction and work experience. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or ability to obtain certification in 2 years.
Knowledge of commonly used purchasing and inventory concepts, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of project management techniques and tools. Knowledge of RFI, RFQ, and RFP processes and negotiating contracts and pricing, including terms and conditions.
Experience Required: 4 – 7 years related purchasing experience.

The Manager of Good Not For Resale is responsible for complete oversight and management of all aspects of purchasing goods not for resale for assigned locations to minimize costs while maximizing service levels and maintaining strong supplier relationships. This position is also responsible for negotiation of purchase price, contract terms and timing of assigned materials. This requires working in close partnership with engineering, operations, finance, and other departments.
Procurement of Goods and Services
Negotiate major and minor purchases and agreements with existing and potential suppliers and service vendors.
Participate in both short and long term strategy discussions concerning applicable commodities and services, and make appropriate recommendations based on general market conditions.
Actively seek new sources for existing materials, supplies and vendor services where doing so will improve overall quality, on time delivery, cost reductions, and reliability.
Actively communicate with other areas of the business to coordinate efforts, look for opportunities to leverage buying power, and share best practices.
Resolve and adjust problems requiring assistance relating to defective material disposition, order shortages, delivery, pricing or product quality with suppliers. Expedite purchase orders when necessary to meet schedule requirements.
Prepare various reports including cost savings (comparing results vs. established goals), cost increases, quote/project analysis and other such reports, as needed.
Ensure supplier adherence to PO terms/conditions and quality standards.
Support of New Distribution Centers
Identify goods and services required to start-up new distribution centers by partnering with the key stakeholders.
Identify suppliers, create and issue RFI, RFQ, and RFP documents as necessary.
Lead negotiations and manage all aspects of the agreements and supplier relationships.
Work with project management and finance to ensure budget and adapt procurement strategies and plans to changing business priorities, and communicate proactively with senior leaders to ensure close alignment between procurement and business requirements.
Participate on business leadership teams to bring procurement expertise and offer ideas that generate value for the business.
Survey market to understand industry, supplier, and competitor trends. Communicate these trends to business leaders and integrate them with procurement strategies.
Monitor supplier quality and intervene where necessary to assure strong supplier performance
Provide Ongoing Support Support the Supply Chain Team with budget preparation by obtaining price quotations as requested and negotiating lower pricing or developing other strategies in support of budget objectives. Provide expertise in the area of sourcing and procurement across all functional areas. Perform all functions in accordance with Finance and VSI business practices and procedures, as well as Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
