||The Procurement Specialist at Texas City is responsible for supporting, developing and implementing global, regional and local strategies in coordination across R&M and Petrochemicals Procurement. This role could be responsible for a wide range of commodities (MRO, catalyst, chemicals, capital equipment, utilities as examples) depending on capability and site requirements. The specialist must work closely with the site stakeholders to develop an understanding of the strategic direction of the business units and incorporate that into strategies. The procurement specialist provides plant emergency support, interface with suppliers on a local basis, establish and ensure conformance to purchasing related procedures, and provide customer focus and coordination to ensure that procurement is providing a level of service that meets or exceeds the business unit’s requirements. In addition to the key responsibilities at the site, this role could also participate in global category management leadership opportunities (category tags) as well as support and implement global procurement process improvements. This position reports to the Site Procurement Manager.
||1. The Procurement Specialist position is aligned with manufacturing and encompasses facilitating, developing and implementing Local, Regional and Global strategies, demand planning, strategic sourcing and supplier management .
2. The Procurement Specialist is responsible for support, strategy development and use of R&M strategies
a. This position requires understanding and incorporating the strategic direction of the business units into contract opportunities.
b. Working with the site network to implement strategies at Texas City Chemicals
c. Developing and negotiating local, regional, global agreements and also participating in development and of regional or global agreements.
3. The Procurement Specialist is responsible for reporting cost savings via the pipeline; KPI reporting via Oyster database, metrics reporting for in-house contractors and suppliers.
4. Insuring compliance with corporate agreements and standards,
5. Leveraging BP third party spend,
6. Communicating with all applicable corporate networks,
7. Developing and maintaining supplier-customer relationships, implementing best practices, process changes and commodity strategies across Petrochemicals to reduce total cost of ownership while meeting supplier diversity goals.
||*BS with concentration in Procurement/Supply Chain Management, finance, logistics or engineering.
*7-10 years business experience
|Essential experience and job requirements
||Experience in a manufacturing environment; knowledge of category management and supplier/contractor management and of the procurement process.
|Other essential skills and knowledge
||– Good communication & negotiation skills.
|Desirable criteria & qualifications
Strong commercial skills and business acumen; knowledge of procurement and sourcing technologies; experience in capital equipment and manufacturing services procurement.
