Procurement Intern Parsons Corporation – Aiken, SC PROJECT

For more than 20 years, Parsons has supported the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. Parsons is developing a conceptual design for a Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) to process highly radioactive liquid wastes currently stored in large underground tanks. Salt wastes account for about 34 of the 37 million gallons of radioactive waste at Savannah River. The SWPF continues Parsons’ full-service support for first-of-a-kind process facilities to solve our nation’s most complex waste issues.

NEED

Parsons is seeking a Procurement Intern who will perform various administrative and clerical duties to include: data collection, data entry, and report writing tasks that are assigned to specific projects or work groups. Most assignments require familiarity with standard Company processes and good PC skills. This is position is located in Aiken, SC and does not provide relocation assistance.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gathers statistics and general data; reviews and combines this information into established reports for use within and outside the unit. Such reports may be in spreadsheet or graphical formats, or narrative-style word documents.

May be responsible for verifying data gathered, such as matching supplier invoices against file copies.

Reviews time reports to verify accuracy of hours worked and Job#/WBS charges.

Follows up to ensure timely processing of corrections.

Maintains employee directory and related data pertaining to employees assigned to the unit.

Tracks paid-time-off hours charged and maintains schedule of future hours to be taken.

Prepares general correspondence and maintains general files. Answers telephone, taking and relaying messages

Receives, sorts, and distributes mail.

May establish and maintain records of equipment, including a log of equipment service dates.

May obtain basic data for completion of the unit’s overhead budget and prepare associated recurring reports.

May coordinate physical space requirements for the assigned unit. Initiates requests for PCs and telephones, and updates Corporate Directory as appropriate.

May work closely with immediate supervisor in tracking timeliness of performance appraisals and preparing documents related to personnel actions.

May periodically prepare an occupancy report by project or gather information to complete staffing reports for the unit and/ or several projects, as directed by immediate supervisor.

Close out purchase orders following confirmation of the successful completion of all contractual and procedural requirements.

Maintain a list of qualified suppliers, by commodity, approved by the project and/or department.

Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation to bidders who have been identified/qualified by higher-level Buyers.

Accomplish less-complex purchasing activities, typically non-engineered items, while receiving further training.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent must be enrolled in Business Administration (or related)

curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed

at least one year of studies.

1-3 years of relevant work experience.

A working knowledge of MS Windows and related word processing, spreadsheet, and database software, is required.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Good business English and general office practice skills are required. Additionally, a demonstrated proficiency in keyboard skills.
