Position is responsible for setting the company’s strategy for the sourcing and management of multiple commodities/categories of spend. Total annual spend accountability in the range $10-50MM
Maintains competitive sources from which to select suppliers for competitive bidding, direct negotiation, partnering and development of long-term business relationships.
Prepares necessary contract documentation ensuring all requirements, documents and specifications are included.
Actively participates in cross-functional commodity teams.
Solicits, analyzes and evaluates competitive bids with pertinent specifications, terms and conditions. Selects the supplier which best meets the requirements.
Negotiates and write-up effective, implementable contracts with appropriate terms and conditions, meeting all legal requirements. Awards bids.
Manages individual workload and contract expirations to ensure continuous supply of goods and services on behalf of internal customers.
Measures key contract and program performance for continuous improvement.
Continually researches, assesses and documents market characteristics and internal demand for key commodities. This includes major competitors, cost drivers, indices, leading indicators, best “buy” strategy, supply and demand seasonality, risk, historical trends, potential substitutes, distribution channels, and other pertinent information necessary to identify opportunities for price concessions and process improvements.
Complies with all Department and Corporate regulatory guidelines, policies and legal requirements.
Enter and maintain accurate and complete information in Procurement System.
Bachelors Degree in Purchasing/Materials Management, Engineering, Business or comparable area, or the equivalent knowledge obtained through career experience or a combination of undergraduate course work and career experience.
5-7 years related work experience
Ability to deal with confidential information in an appropriate manner.
Interpersonal skills to develop and manage relationships with internal customers and suppliers; negotiate effective contracts; and present ideas and proposals written and orally.
General knowledge of available sources of pertinent business information, analytical skills to evaluate this information and communications skills to prepare/present presentations. Business information includes major competitors, industry cost drivers, market indices and leading indicators.
Basic computer skills in Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Basic understanding of business and supply chain terminology, Uniform Commercial Code and Code of Ethics.
Willingness and ability to travel overnight on occasion.
