PROCUREMENT ANALYST

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an opening for a PROCUREMENT ANALYST at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
This position is primarily responsible for providing broad commercial, financial, and technical support to 1) category / sourcing specialists and managers, and 2) operational procurement and inventory management. The position requires the incumbent to gain detailed knowledge of SAP reporting capabilities, including business warehouse, and the Ariba Spend Management tool. The incumbent is expected to be an integral part of the internal demand, market analysis and strategy development for key materials and services within the global sourcing team(s) they support. Activities may include the support of make versus buy analysis as well as the development of total cost of ownership models.
The incumbent will also assist sourcing teams by using the spend analysis tool to create customized templates, run and analyze reports on spend patterns, cleanse data and information and recommend changes to improve data availability and quality. For operational procurement and inventory management teams, in addition to activities similar to those performed for sourcing teams, the position is responsible for reviewing activity levels by business, plant location and individual performer to assist management teams in redirecting work, enhancing efficiency and lowering internal and external costs.
The incumbent, in certain circumstances, will also be responsible to set up outline agreements in SAP and will, therefore, be trained in SAP for buyer and sourcing specialist roles in addition to reporting roles. Also, given the importance of this position in supporting process improvement initiatives, the incumbent will receive training in Continuous Improvement tools. Lastly, this position will have full knowledge of implementing The Air Products Way including training in all e-enabled technologies with a leading practitioner level of training on the Ariba spend visibility tool.
This position is a developmental role for individuals considering commercial assignments of increased responsibility within, or external to, the global sourcing teams.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
On behalf of the global procurement team(s) they support:
1. Perform in depth analysis of Air Products demand requirements and purchase requirements as delegated by the category sourcing managers, strategic sourcing managers and operational procurement and materials management personnel. 2. Assist as directed to support the source process by implementing and maintaining outline agreements in SAP consistent with business requirements. 3. Understand and be able to execute delegated steps of the sourcing work process in accordance with The Air Products Way, specifically, those steps related to analyzing spend patterns, market analysis and supplier relationship management. 4. Support the performance of make versus buy analysis. 5. Support development of total cost of ownership models. 6. Develop reports, templates analysis information and provide recommendations to support operational procurement, materials management and sourcing teams. 7. Participate from an analytical perspective on cross-functional teams involved in marketplace analysis and supplier discovery. 8. Be conversant, knowledgeable and trained in Continuous Improvement tools and capable of using these tools and techniques to analyze data and support improvement efforts. Incumbent should be pursuing belt certification. 9. Collaborate with other members of the Energy & Materials team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
BS / BA Degree with 1-2 years experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Distribution / Logistics.
Strong analytical skills.
Experience in working with ERP and/or eProcurement systems to obtain, analyze and present data in a cogent fashion is desirable.
Experience in working within and building good relationships with team members and associates in a matrix organization is also an important qualification.
